Classwork --- painting a collection

The coloor of this collection is from spilt complementary scheme.

Yellow and green are to create a young, energetic and sharp image.

However, just using these two colors are too bright at all.

Thus, violet is to make contrast and to balance the outfits.


In fact, this is not a easy job to match colours.

Different level of chromas and values provide different effects and feelings.

In my opinions, designers are based on the following factors to match colours :

1) colour trend

2) their favorites ( couture )

3) acceptance level of customers ( commercial )

4) the technology of innovating new colours

painting little gundam !!!

Recently, I have painted a little gundam figure!!!

it was my first time to do such kind of things...

so my work did not really look professional~ha



For the colour, I was not using its original one --- blue, white and gold,

but my favorite colours --- violet, black and gold !!!











Its feeling is totally different from the original one...

Now it looks cool and evil =]

Global Heart - Warming

In valentines' day,

I walked by Gallery by the Harbour in Harbour City,

a contemporary ceramic art exhibition called ' Global Heart - Warming' is held there.

An austrian artist, Margit Denz, made 8 series ---

namely Red, Heaven, Homeland, Textile, Blue moon, Erotic, Honey and Sea,

to represent human emotions.

Actually, the design of the hearts are very similar to each other within different series.

The designer only apply different colours in different series.

Red is high chroma, so it is very eye catching.

Homeland, Honey and Sea is low value, so they look soft and comfortable.

Blue Moon is quite special since

it consists three high chroma hearts in the upper part and low chroma hearts for others.




Many lovers getting in the gallery to take a look of the hearts and take photos.

It should be a nice exhibition for the lovers, but not for the shop keepers. haha

Finally, our group ' M ' decide to analyze the collections by marc jacobs.

The planned division of works is as follows :

1) everyone will analyze one collection ( from 2005 spring to 2009 fall )

2) everyone will find some important things related to marc jacobs

e.g. biography, place, price, promotion, competitors, customers etc.

classwork --- timeline of color trend

Have I got into fashion industry?

When I was a Form 5 student,

my mother had opened a little fashion shop,

so I started being a sales person when I was free in the weekends.



When I was a Form 7 student,

two friends had went to the UK and studied fashion.

At that time, we were dreaming and decided to start our own business in the future.



When I was a year 1 of Associate-degree student,

I have got a chance of internship to practice in Gucci.

It is really a precious experience for me to learn about how a high fashion brand runs its business.

I start understnading why their products are sold at such a high price.

Just because of their materials, details and images.



Now I am an ITC student,

although I am not good at design and those subjects related to technology,

I really get interested in RETAILING and FASHION.

It is meaningful and interesting course. =]

Since fashion is closely related to our daily life,

we need to think what to wear everday, decide what to buy and where to shop.

Perhaps, I have already got into fashion industry.

Hope I can help my friends and fulfill our dreams in the future. ossssh!!!

A Life In Fashion

Vivienne Westwood Fashion Exhibition had ended in 31 January 2009.

It's really a long long queue there.....











'Queen of Sheba' Dress in Vive La Cocotte A/W 1995

I think it is the most attractive item in the show room!!!



It was inspired by pagan themes in Tiepolo's paintings

and embroidered by the corsetier Mr Pearl. ( genius!!! )





Ostrich feathers and glass beads, worn over a foundation of corset and cage

Elegant, glamorous and gorgeous!!!!!





Vivienne Westwood is very smart.

She knows how to stick out the lady's body shape

and make it more attractive by using tailoring, bustles and corsets.



Here is the ' Metropolitan' suit in Vivi La Cocotte A/W 1995








Vivienne Westwood also doesn't mind telling people that

she interested in and even copied the work of the French couturier Christian Dior,

in particular his use of men's styling for the female form. ( reflected by the above suit )

Just because she believe in copying if you can. There is nothing better.

I do admire and agree what she said.

I think copying can easily be found in the fashion industry.

Sometimes, I believe the designers may just copy or inspire from others but just adding somethings that suit their styles and then become their own designs or ideas.







Although I am not a super fan of Vivienne Westood,

( I love her accessories rather than her clothing)

I will remember what she told me. XD

Play Colorful =]

This is a Nike commercial ads in Japan.

One of the tutors shows this ads during the lesson.

It is really creative, funny and surprising.

The Japanese does make good use of their traditional things, e.g. power rangers,

so the audience can easily remember this ads.

Nike also make good use of the colors, e.g. different colors of power rangers,

various of colors are provided for the customers

to match the colors and to create their own jacket.

Customerization occurs and helps enlarging the youngsters' market.


I do think colors can influent our life a lot.

Every thing can be related to colors, not only fashion.

That's why I buy the solgan ' play colorful'.
